Vijay is the founder of the Treatmenthouse. He was born in 1962 in Kerala, South India, and represents the 68th generation of Vaidyas in his family.
Ayurveda has been practiced in Vijay’s family for several hundred years — with knowledge passed down from generation to generation. His work encompasses the treatment of illnesses and injuries as well as general preventive healthcare. One of the family’s specializations is the science of the Marma and Nadi systems (a system of energy points and channels), which allows for a highly precise approach to each individual’s physical condition.
From an early age, Vijay was taught by his grandfather, the Tamil Pandit Vaidya Valayunthan Pillai. Having been passed down in sung verses, Vijay became familiar with this science through his lullabies. At the age of eight, he began learning his family’s Foot Therapy and other treatment techniques. Later, he deepened this knowledge by studying specific treatment methods with other Vaidyas and gurus.
At the Treatmenthouse, Vijay works alongside his children Athira and Achu, their spouses Vishak and Sandra, and an experienced team of qualified Ayurvedic therapists.
Vijay has now largely handed over the responsibility for performing the treatments to the next generation. However, he remains involved in creating treatment plans, supervising forehead oil treatments, and much more.
Athira, Vijay’s daughter, born in 1994, works as an Ayurvedic doctor at the Treatment House. She completed her studies in Ayurvedic medicine in 2017.
She is the first woman in the family to whom the family’s knowledge has been passed down. Previously, it was a family tradition that only male descendants were taught Ayurveda.
Achu, Vijay’s son, born in 1995, works as an Ayurvedic doctor at the Treatment House. He completed his studies in Ayurvedic medicine in 2018.
Achu represents the 69th generation to carry on the Vaidya tradition of the family.
Vishak, Athira’s husband, born in 1992, works as an Ayurvedic doctor at the Treatmenthouse. He completed his studies in Ayurvedic medicine in 2017.
After several years as chief physician at the Vasudeva Vilasam Vaidyasala in Trivandrum, he became part of the Treatmenthouse team in 2022.
Sandra, Achus’s wife, born in 1996, works as an Ayurvedic doctor at the Treatmenthouse. After earning her bachelor’s degree in Ayurvedic medicine, she specialized in women’s health and received her master’s degree in 2026 (focusing on preconception care).
Sandra is your point of contact for any concerns regarding pre-conception care, prenatal support, menstrual issues, and perimenopause/menopause.
