Ayurveda is an ancient medicine and healthcare system that addresses all aspects of one’s health and well-being. It emerged in India during the Vedic Age, roughly 3.000 years ago. The word Ayurveda is a compound of the words ayus meaning life and veda, referring to a system of knowledge. Thus, Ayurveda roughly translates as the “science of life” \u2013 a way of living that allows mind, body, and spirt to maintain balance and harmony or return to this state. It results in extremely good health and longevity.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

The state of health according to Ayurveda goes beyond the absence of disease. It encompasses balance in the Doshas (bodily humors), appetite and digestion, well-produced tissues, proper elimination of wastes, and digestion. It also includes a blissful state of mind, soul, and senses. Overdoing, diet, stress, pollution, and many other factors can potentially create an imbalance.<\/p>

The Ayurvedic treatments purify the body and rebalance the Doshas. This allows the body to become powerful and gives it the capacity for self-healing.<\/p>

In Western countries, Ayurveda is often seen as a pleasurable treatment for relaxation. Traditional Ayurvedic treatments reach deep into old blockages and toxins that may have been stored and collected in the body for many years. Such a powerful process of cleansing is an intense experience that can sometimes feel uncomfortable.<\/p>

Part of the process is a procedure for cleaning the stomach and intestines. Like other treatments, it is adapted to your body.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

The therapy procedure is tailored to each individual\u2019s personal condition. You\u2019ll receive one treatment each day (approx. 60-90 minutes).<\/p>\n

The treatments are very strong, so one treatment per day is optimal for maximum benefit, giving you time to rest and allow the treatment to have its full effect. Some treatments focus on purification and others focus on nourishment, so the sequence of treatments will vary. This sequence is designed specifically based on your physical condition and on your body\u2019s response to the treatment program as it unfolds.<\/p>\n

Vijay\u2019s Foot Therapy is a powerful full body massage which has an impact on all tissues within the body. The therapist performs the massage with their feet, reaching the deepest layers of the body. The session concludes with a hand massage of the head and face.<\/p>

The treatment is based on the Marma and Nadi System (system of energy points and pathways). It benefits the flexibility of the body, relaxes the muscles, removes body waste and blockages, supplies the cells with Prana (life energy) and balances the Doshas.<\/p>

Elakizhi is an ancient Ayurvedic sudation therapy using numerous medicinal leaves\/herbs. Ela means leaves and kizhi means pouch. Pouches, containing fresh medicinal leaves, will be dipped into warm medicated oil (prepared at the Treatmenthouse) and used for massaging the body. This induces perspiration within the affected area, which prompts the skin to eliminate wastes.<\/p>

Dhanyamla is a combination of two Sanskrit words: Dhanya, which means cereals, and Amala, which means sour. Dhara means pouring a liquid medium in a small continuous and constant stream over the body or affected area.<\/p>

For Dhanyamla Dhara, different types of grain are soaked and fermented to create a potent herbal concoction. This liquid is heated and continuously poured over the entire body.<\/p>

Pizhichil is a treatment developed by traditional Vaidyas in Kerala. Pizhichil means squeezing. A mixture of warm medicinal oils is continuously poured over the body by squeezing out oil-soaked cloths, followed by a strong hand massage.<\/p>

Njavarakizhi is known as Shashtika Shali Pinda Sweda in Sanskrit. Shashtika means 60, Shali means rice, Pinda means poultice, and Sweda means sweat. The whole body is massaged using pouches filled with precooked medicinal rice and dipped into a mixture of warm herbal water and milk.<\/p>
